Section titled “Global Configurations for Vehicle Fleets”HDM5 provides global sets of vehicle fleets which have been pre-configured by expert users for use in different geographical regions and for different types of analyses. See Global Configurations.
Use of pre-configured vehicle fleets allow users to produce credible analyses more quickly by reducing the need for detailed input data, while also improving consistency across studies through a common set of assumptions. When calibrated to typical local conditions, they help ensure more realistic results—particularly for vehicle operating costs—while lowering the risk of user error. They also support wider uptake of the model by enabling less experienced users to work with confidence, while still allowing more advanced users to refine and customise the fleets as better data becomes available.
When a pre-configured Vehicle Fleet is selected and imported into an analysis, HDM5 takes a copy of that Vehicle Fleet information for use in the analysis. The user may make changes to that Vehicle Fleet for use within the analysis, but any such changes are not reflected in the global configurations.
