Global Configurations
Overview

Section titled “What are Global Configurations?”Global Configurations are pre-configured data sets to allow users to produce credible analyses more quickly by reducing the need for detailed input data, while also improving consistency across studies through a common set of assumptions.
Why are they important?
Section titled “Why are they important?”Global Configurations support wider uptake of the model by enabling less experienced users to work with confidence, while still allowing more advanced users to refine and customise models as better data becomes available.
When calibrated to typical local conditions, they help ensure more realistic results while lowering the risk of user error.
Using Global Configurations
Section titled “Using Global Configurations”When importing Global Configuration data into an analysis, HDM5 takes a copy of that configuration data in the analysis. If a user modifies parameters within the analysis, such changes are not reflected in the Global Configurations.
Global Configurations Currently Supported
Section titled “Global Configurations Currently Supported”Currently, HDM5 provides the following pre-configured data sets:
- Road Deterioration Calibration Sets
- Vehicle Fleets
- Traffic Flow Patterns
- Speed Flow Types
- Climate Zones
- Currencies
Adding New Global Configurations
Section titled “Adding New Global Configurations”To publish new Global Configuration data for potential use by other HDM5 users, or to ask about existing global configuration data, contact HDM5 support.
